2008 Ford F350 Power-stroke 6.4L EGR & Oil Cooler Delete:
Bought this leaking oil into the cooling system. Everyone says that this engine is the worst diesel ever made. I’ll admit it’s taking my lunch money on this egr and oil cooler delete but with some work she’s awesome. Now mind you the Duramax I also bought with issues and had to do the entire top end so I can’t complain much. This ford diesel, being the first production vehicle with sequential twin turbos, I don’t think is the worst out there. The emission parts are the issue and it’s not just Fords 6.4.
I never thought I’d own a ford but so far I’m starting to wonder if all the complaint is to jack up the bill. Yes it’s labor intensive but that’s why we get paid book time.
With the right mods is 6.4 power-stroke is reliable?
History:
The 6.4 was to be the 6.0s predecessor after losing customers due to the 6.0 power strokes engine issues and recalls.
Ford has Navistar build the 6.4 to eliminate all the problems that plagued the 6.0, win the trust lost customers, and to meet emissions standards. Ford & Navistar were said to have rushed this engine production.

Everyone had high expectations and initially the 6.4 power-stroke, met that expectation however that success was very short lived after miles racked up, ford found that the build was worse and ended their relationship with Navistar and Ford made the 7.4.
